Recreation in Rooks County

 

webster lakeWebster Reservoir and State Park is located 7 miles west of Stockton on Highway 24 or 10 miles north of Zurich on Highway 258 from K-18.  The 3,780 acre lake has campgrounds, picnic areas, swimming, volleyball courts, shower houses, shelters, hiking trails, boat ramps, fish cleaning station, electric hookups, and much more.  To find out more about Webster Lake, visit the website at:http://www.kdwp.state.ks.us/news/state_parks/locations/webster.

 

Rooks County State LakeRooks County State Lake is located 3 miles south and 3 miles west of Stockton and provides excellent fishing opportunities.  A shelter house (pictured) is also available for picnics.

 

 

 

 

PV Lake calm 2Plainville Township Lake is located 1 mile south and 1 mile west of Plainville.  During normal years, the lake has plenty of water and provides an excellent location for fishing and picnics.  It is also a great place for bird watching, photographing sunsets, or play a round of frisbee golf on a nine-hole layout on the west side of the lake.

Rooks County Gold CourseRooks County Golf Course is located 5 miles north of Plainville.  The nine-hole grass greens course has plenty of water (in normal years) and, of course, lots of cedar trees to challenge golfers of all ages.  Rooks County Golf Club is a public course with daily green fees  Carts are available.

Palco Golf Course is located 2 miles east of Palco on Highway K-18.  It is a nine-hole sand greens course laid out in rolling hills and valleys.  The course is open to all golfers for a small fee.

 

crop man & dogHunting Rooks County is well known as a haven for hunters.  An abundance of pheasant, quail, turkey, deer, dove, ducks, and geese make the area one of the most popular hunting areas in the United States during the fall and winter months. Plainville ParkCity Parks are located in each of the county’s towns. Many of the parks have shelter houses, playground equipment, and picnic tables.  Swimming pools are located in Plainville and Stockton.
