The Plainville Recreation Commission, in cooperation with the City of Plainville, is considering opening a new Recreation/Wellness Center in the former Duckwall’s building location on S. Main Street in Plainville’s downtown. The Recreation Commission said they have received an anonymous offer to purchase the building for the purpose of a Recreation Commission operated center.
The question of funds to buy equipment was discussed by the city council. Many felt that a capital campaign and memberships would help with the purchase and also with the ongoing maintenance of the facility. Most everyone felt that the city would certainly benefit from having a fitness center for the whole population.
It was agreed at the February 26, 2014 city council meeting that each entity would continue to gather information.
