The community of Plainville is no longer without a variety store! On March 20, 2014 Dollar General officially opened at 205 NW 3rd St. (just east of the US 183 and K-18 intersection). Plainville has been without the services of a variety store since the closing of Duckwall’s in 2010.
Efforts had been underway since the Duckwall’s closing to secure a variety store for Plainville, but a sour economy and several missteps and false starts resulted in nothing happening for several years. That all changed in late 2013 when several variety store corporations showed an interest in expansion, and Plainville was one of the communities to benefit.
