Plainville chosen for MIH grant on old hospital site

Plainville Mayor Kelli Hansen is pleased to announce the City of Plainville was selected to receive a Moderate Income Housing (MIH) grant through the Kansas Housing Resource Corporation (KHRC).

MIH home planThe grant, in the amount of $362,000, can be used for infrastructure necessary to support housing or the actual housing development, including acquisition of real property.

The city was able to leverage the county’s demolition of the old Plainville Hospital and the subsequent deeding of the property, as well as the city’s infrastructure improvement to improve their chances of being awarded the grant.  The private sector also had a significant investment with the promise of at least four new homes to be built on the site once demolition is complete.

The proposed homes feature three bedrooms, two baths, and attached double-car garage, with unfinished basements (typical floor plan pictured).  They will be available for middle-income families.
